Learn How to Redirect Rejection

learn how to redirect redirection

Here is how you can redirect rejection into success

Rejection sucks. When I was younger I faced rejection from every angle. At school I struggled making friends. The first real friend I made was when I was eight years and that was because I transferred to a new school. When I was eleven, I faced rejection because no kid wanted me on their team when playing sports. I was always picked last for dodge ball. When I was older I struggled to cope with school so I faced rejection there. People thought I wasn’t smart enough or good enough.

This played like a song in my ears. Am I good enough? I kept asking myself that. Over the years, I learned to think differently about rejection. That is primarily because I felt like I had no idea what else to do. Rejection isn’t easy. It never is. Often we think there’s nowhere out of this. If society and those we love reject then what? Rejection doesn’t stop the older we get. We just recognize it for what it is. That this is it? People don’t want me here. Or I haven’t gotten this position because of X.

Sometimes it’s not because you aren’t qualified, but it can be due to timing. Thing is rejection isn’t spoken about often. That is because when we become adults it’s as if we should get accustomed to rejection. Almost as if it’s a badge of honor. What if you could turn rejection into success? What if you can turn redirect rejection? If you do this then there’s no stopping you from going after what you want. There’s a beauty to that. We don’t talk about that. In this blog post we will look at a new way to think about rejection. This is how you can turn rejection into success.

Love yourself even in the storms

When I was a kid, my sister would look at herself fondly in the mirror. I never understood. When I was older I got it, my sister was learning how to love herself first. Despite what anyone told her, she loved who she was. It was then that I understood what love was. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. We say this often that it has lost meaning. You need to love yourself first before you can love anyone else.

The reason why rejection hurts more than it should is because we don’t love ourselves. We don’t love who we are in the storms. We don’t who we are when no one is validating our existence. Take a look at social media. It’s a toxic wasteland because people are seeking validation. When they don’t hundreds of likes or comments on their posts it’s like the world is falling a part. That is why there’s an wide spread of mental illnesses. Sure many people go through trauma and that is the cause of their mental illnesses. They never get better because they are seeking validation from outsiders.

How you turn rejection into success is that you need to love yourself regardless of what the world says about you. Redirect rejection. Love yourself even more. Fall in love with yourself. That is a hard thing to do. We are so set in the way we see ourselves. Often it’s negative belief. What if you change that into positives? Your life will change in more ways than you will realize.

Step more out of your comfort zone

Magic happens out of your comfort zone. This is where you grow the most. This is where you learn more about yourself. Even if you get rejected never let that limit your potential. When I was a kid, I did public speaking. I did it twice. Both times I failed miserably at it. I promised myself I would do it again in college. In college, I did it again and I came in first place.

If I had held onto the experience as a kid I wouldn’t have done it again. I would still have stage fright. By stepping out of my comfort zone I learned so much about myself. I grew so much because I refused to let it define who I was. Magic happens when you understand that rejection isn’t supposed to stop you, but push you. This is what happens when you redirect rejection. This is what happens when you no longer see rejection has something that will keep you in a box.

Here’s another example. I am an introvert. As a kid I used to be socially awkward. I thought if people knew me they wouldn’t want to be around me. Then I realized that it was better to be honest from the get go. I let go of the walls. Started being myself and realized that people appreciated it more. I made friends quicker because of it. I became more confidant than before. I became more assertive. I redirected rejection into something magical. And when I stepped out of my comfort zone eve though I failed more, I learned faster. That sent me on a trajectory that has changed my life for the better.

Don’t allow rejection to define you

Don’t let rejection define you? Don’t personalize it. Most times when we face rejection, we personalize it. This a recipe for disaster. Why? Because rejection is something that happens when things are out of our control. They are outside forces at work. You can’t control how people see you. You can’t control whether someone likes something you like or they don’t. You can’t control certain outcomes, but you can learn from it.

People are complicated. That doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with you. In fact you are normal. Every person faces rejection in their lifetime. From the job offer they didn’t get to the friends who change they mind about them. We all face rejection. But you just need to redirect it into something positive. Who are you? Does this rejection change who you have always been? If the answers to that are no then why should we personalize it.

I had zero friends before the age of eight unless I count my sister. It took me a while to even understand what having a friend means. I had to learn the hard way. But I grew from it. My roommates chased me away from the apartment we were sharing. I definitely deserve that, but should I personalize their rejection. They were doing what was best for them and honestly it didn’t define who I was.

I have ADHD. So I know rejection very well, but rejection has made me who I am. I now take rejection in my strides. I accept I am not everyone’s person. That is alright. There’s a beauty in that. Those who accept me I appreciate greatly. I would go to bat for them. Don’t let rejection define who you are. Because in reality it doesn’t have any power over who you are.

Why You’re Not Following Your Life Purpose

Why You’re Not Following Your Life Purpose

Why you’re not following your life purpose?

Here are the reasons why you might not be following your life purpose

We all have a life purpose, but most do not know what it is. And that there is the problem. There’s a significant number of people not satisfied with their life. A large proportion that wants more out of life. This group feels like they missed their calling and feels as if they aren’t living their dream lives. The older they get, the more convinced they are that they aren’t living their dreams.

As time goes, this doesn’t magically disappear because of age. In fact, it becomes worse because most people want to live a life they love, but are unsure how to do it. They want to stop living a life that aren’t satisfied with. And that is why I wanted to write this blog post because I truly believe that when we stop trying to please everyone, we will live our lives. When we stop trying to become like someone else, that is when we discover what we are made of. That is why this blog post might be one of the most important articles you will read on life’s purpose. Why? Because when you find out why you’re not following, your life purpose will help you a lot. This will help you understand what you need to focus on. So drumroll please. Let’s go.

You’re directionless

Raise of hands. Who has felt directionless? I’ve been where you are right now. I used to be directionless, and this was a big proponent of why I didn’t go after my life’s purpose. I did not know what I wanted to do. Nor did I know what direction I should go in. When you’re directionless, you’ll spend years struggling to play catch up and this can deflate your self-esteem.

It is important you have a direction. Would you go on a major trip without knowing what route you should take? No. Right. What about presenting a topic without an idea of the topic you will speak about? No. Right. Problem is we are directionless for our life purpose. We imagine a life where we live on our own terms, but we can’t seem to go in the right direction. Pinpoint the direction you want to go in. If you are a photographer, what kind are you? What do you want your life to be like in the next five or ten years? Who is your target audience? Newly wed couples. Young families. Portraits. Nature.

Choose your direction and it will be easier to figure out the next steps you should take.

A weak why

You aren’t following your life purpose because your why sucks. What this means is that your reasons don’t hold water. Have you ever tried using an old sponge when washing dishes? The old sponge doesn’t hold as much water as a new sponge. Why? Because the pores in the sponge have seen better days. Therefore, they can’t hold enough water.

Your why is like this? Let’s say your life’s purpose is to become a real estate agent. Your why is so that you can make money? This won’t work. Because money isn’t a strong enough factor to push you. One day you work hard and the next when you don’t see results, you will give up. Why? Because you aren’t seeing the results that you won’t and your motivator has disappeared. So, let’s change that why to something more fundamental? Your why is to show people substantial properties so that they don’t feel cheated? You want to change the way real estate works.

This is a much stronger why because you aren’t focusing on the destination, but on the journey. Many of us start like this. We focus heavily on his destination. If I make X amount per month, my life will change. What if you don’t make that money? Then what? Focus on the journey rather than the destination.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     – Lao Tzu

Focus on the journey rather than the destination

The third reason you’re not following your life purpose is because you are spending way too much of your energy on the destination rather than the journey. That is why the quote above is so important. Every journey in life begins with the first step. Sometimes that is all you need to focus on. Step one. That is it. What do you want to achieve? How do you want to achieve it? Focus on step one. Focus on the baby step. And then you can see the whole thing coming together.

That is the key. Everything comes together. You now see a path that you didn’t see before and you understand what you need to do. Here’s an example. You want to start a blog. Step one. Find what you want to write about. Step two. Research your competitors. What are they writing about? Who is their target audience? Reverse engineer. Find the sweet spot so that you can compete. Then design your blog. Easier said than done. I know that, but this is a simple snippet to understand.

Climbing up a ladder is easier when you take your time climbing each rung. When you try to step on the rung far from your reach, you’ll hurt yourself. That is why you need to focus on the step ahead of you. That is how to get to where you’re going without breaking a sweat. Okay, you’ll break a sweat, but at least you won’t exhaust yourself trying to do too many things all at once.

Fear has gotten you down

The fourth and last reason you’re not following your life’s purpose is fear. It can be a fear of people’s opinions or your own. What if I fail? What if I’m not good enough? What will people say? The list goes on. So, you need to decide. Imagine there are two doors and you need to choose. One is blue, and the other is red. Now, choose the blue door and you’re life will be as simple as it can be. They will be no hurdles or hiccups. You will experience an average and ordinary life because you took no risks.

Did I bore you yet? The red door is full of adventure, hiccups, extraordinary measures and roadblocks. Or did I forget to mention danger? Not the kind that will poison you or get you killed. Still, it will have adventure and heartbreak. You will explore the world, but also put yourself out there. You will find yourself and yet lose part of yourself. Your old self, that is. You walk with more confidence yet squirm when you step out of your comfort zone. Hope I painted a splendid picture.

Here’s the thing: you can only choose one door. So pick wisely. There’s nothing wrong with either choice. It’s up to. But the red door you will grow more and the blue door you won’t change as much. Fear holds us hostage, and it is the reason many of us aren’t following your life’s purpose. How you combat this is by letting of what people say. Heck, let go of what you think and just do it. Take that leap. You won’t regret it.

4 Reasons To Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

4 Reasons To Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

4 REASONS TO STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

Here are four reasons why you need to step out of your comfort zone

We all have a comfort zone. Most of us don’t even know what it is or that we even do that. Comfort zones are protective, and we enjoy that. They are many reasons you should step out of your comfort zone. Here’s the thing you tell yourself lies so that you don’t step out of your comfort zone. Those lies prevent you from discovering who you can become and what you can do. They also stop you from trying out new things.

Fear is the number one driving force stopping us from stepping out of our comfort zone. When you get used to stepping out of your comfort zone. There’s very little that you won’t be able to do. Not because you’re this insanely talented person. No, that isn’t the reason. It’s because you have chosen each time to step out of your comfort zone.

That there is how you grow. It’s how you step and go after what you want. That is why I wrote this blog post to inspire you and help you out. Below are a few reasons you should step out of your comfort zone.

It will hone your skills

The best way to improve your skills is to keep showing up. A photographer doesn’t improve if no one ever sees their photos. An artist never grows without feedback. Going out there is how you will become better. Is it terrifying? Sure. Though the most successful people have gone through this. You can’t go where you haven’t been. You can’t become who you want to be without stepping out of your comfort zone.

Therefore, show up. Even when there’s no one watching. Show up. Even when you believe no one is looking at you. As hard as it is, showing up will help you improve your skills. When you do this, you will improve at a much faster rate. The often you do this, the easier it gets. It all starts with step one, though. You can’t go down the ladder without trying the other things. You can’t reach the pinnacle of success if you are too afraid to even open the door.

If every one reason doesn’t excite you, then focus on this one. We all want to improve our skills so that we can not only grow but have a career trajectory. So, now that one is done off to the second reason.

It helps you to step up to the plate

I had a teacher who used to say, “cannot prepare, then prepare to fail.” She had a point. Though, what happens when no amount of preparation will make you ready? If you are getting ready for a big examination, it makes sense. Then there are other things that are less routine. Yes, you can prepare, but sometimes over preparation can make it harder to even start.

For example, starting a blog or a business. You can prepare until you are blue in the face. Right. However, if you take no action, then you will never start. If you never do that, then you will go nowhere. That’s the thing. It isn’t easy stepping up to the plate. There are so many obstacles that you will have to do. So many things that you need to do. This is how you get of your comfort zone. It will help you step up to the plate.

Stepping up to the plate depends on the person. For some, it is quitting a job that has no growth and you are too comfortable in it. For others, it is starting something new. What is important to realize is that stepping up to the plate will help you grow at a faster speed than anything else. You will learn so much about yourself that you won’t believe it.

 It reduces negative self talk

Many of us are guilty of this. By stepping out of your comfort zone, you reduce the negative self-talk. The negative self-talk is stopping you from going after what you want. So when you step out of your comfort zone, you are choosing to ignore it. That is a good thing and the more you do it, the less vocal that voice is.

Negative self-talk will tell you aren’t good enough. That it is impossible for you to achieve success, but the way you prove it wrong is by doing it, anyway. You prove to yourself that you have what it takes by constantly putting yourself out there. Success is built with dozens of tiny actions, not huge actions. Often, that is all it takes. Small milestones you take daily so that you can achieve what you want in life.

As hard as that may seem, it really isn’t. The more you do it, the easier it becomes. Therefore, step out of your comfort. Maybe you have dozens of dreams and fear is holding you back. Your negative self-talk is holding you back. By going after what you want, then that voice is minimalized. It becomes nothing but noise. Noise that you choose not to pay attention to because you aren’t focusing on that anymore.

You let go expectations

We all have expectations. When you step into your comfort zone, it helps you let go of expectations. What I mean by this is that you stop allowing that harsh critical voice to tell you down because you are doing something few people ever do. This is not only freeing, but it also helps you in other ways. You grow faster and learn more. You also find more opportunities faster.

The I’m not good enough and I can’t do this voice won’t affect you as much as in the past. You’re pushing past barriers and obstacles. When you step out of your comfort zone, it emboldens you because you focus on the journey and not the destination. Not saying it will happen overnight. There’s no such thing as an overnight success despite what people and the media want you to believe. It takes time and the more you do something, the more opportunities come your way.

Stepping out of your comfort zone will never be easy. That’s the point. If it were, then everyone would do it. That’s why you need to focus on the journey and not the destination. Don’t overcompensate but take your time to ease into it. Eventually it will get easier.

Cultivate Resilience So You Can Defy The Odds

Cultivate Resilience So You Can Defy The Odds

CULTIVATE RESILIENCE SO YOU CAN DEFY THE ODDS

Cultivate resilience so that you can defy the odds and achieve your dreams.

What is resilience exactly? We hear it often. It’s cheered on when someone is battling a difficulty or when someone wins at life. Our peers and the people around tell us to be more resilient. It isn’t an unfamiliar word that the dictionary came up with recently. No. Though that doesn’t take away its relevance. In fact, the more problems get thrown at us, the more important this word is.

Simply put, resilience is having the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. In this life, we will all go through difficulties. That is life. Often, our difficulties might mean that getting up isn’t as easy as we wished it would be. Going after your dreams isn’t easy. Not settling isn’t easy because often the easiest route seems the most satisfying. That, though, is temporary. Cultivating resilience is how you defy the odds and achieve your dreams.

They are people who get knocked down and are up before you can count to three. Okay, you probably will count to three before they get up. I’m sure you get the point. These people seem to never let failure pull them down. Maybe you have admired that and even wondered how to do it as well. In this blog post, I will talk all about how you can cultivate resilience.

A strong why

One of the easiest ways to cultivate resilience so you can defy the odds is having a strong why. This here is the key to many things. Think about. Think of anyone who you admire. What has kept them going even when they get knocked down? We all have struggles. Struggles isn’t something that only the unsuccessful go through. Every successful person has gone through struggles.

What separates them from you isn’t a magic word or an unexplained tour de force. Nope. It isn’t something that we can’t understand. Yes, some people have had help to get to where they are. Looking at you, Kylie Jenner. Still, starting and running a business isn’t easy. Got to give credit where it is due. You need a strong why. A reason to get out of the bed.

Most people don’t have a strong why. Many people come up with a flimsy reason. Making lots of money. That lasts as long as you’re willing to keep grinding in the early morning. Then it’s gone. Faster than you can count. So, making money isn’t a powerful reason. It’s a reason everyone uses, but it rarely works well. And you will become aimless. Point is cultivating resilience is about getting up and when you have a potent reason, it’s easier.

Your defining moment

We all need a defining moment. Something that changes course and helps us to keep going. This is how you defy the odds and cultivate resilience. I remember the moment well. I was in grade school hoping to be something more than what I was. It was career day. Until that point, I did not know what I wanted to do with my life. Sure, I was ten. I was still very young, but I had no clue. Not a smidge. I changed dreams according to what was trending. Yeah, I was that kid.

There was nothing I could hold on to. I wasn’t gifted or sporty. It was as if I was just there. Now I know that was the pressure society pushed on young children. When it was my time, I did not know. What I knew, I wanted to make a difference. I wanted to live an extraordinary life. Something worthy beyond measure. Ordinary actions don’t equate to an extraordinary life.

Thing is we have several defining moments in life. That was maybe my second. My first was when I was eight. I digress. These defining moments set you up for life. They change your course. It helps you cultivate resilience. So, at ten, I had my second defining moment. I went onto have different ones at different points in time. Though, whenever life beats me down, I remember the ten-year-old me. The one who didn’t believe in giving in, despite the frantic sprays of the children in the sandbox. I kept going and you should as well.

Remember your defining moment as the time when things shifted for you. This will help you cultivate the resilience you need.

Your inner voice

We all have two inner voices. The critic and the cheerleader. The critic admonishes you for mere mistakes. Whereas the cheerleader tells you to keep going. Many of us listen to the critic’s voice more. That is why it’s always the loudest. “You aren’t good enough.” It tells you. “What makes you think you are anything or worth anything?” Yeah, the critic’s voice sucks and often you wish you could mute it.

Well, you can. It requires training. Not hectic. Sweat on your brows and panting loudly type of training. You just have to train your voice. The voice that tells you can, but is so low you have to increase the volume. We all have the potential for greatness. I know how cliché that sounds. How many gurus tell you that? How many say that you can achieve X, Y and Z. Yet, they don’t give you the tools?

I was highly critical of myself. I used to be a negative person. The one you want to avoid. Sure, I had my moments, though that didn’t take away my critical inner voice. So, when I’m telling you can change, you can. This is how to change the tone of your voice. Keep telling yourself you can do it. When your critic tells you otherwise, remind it of your successes. It can be small. It doesn’t matter. What matters is to stop giving your inner critic relevance. That is how you defy the odds and achieve your dreams.

Baby steps

Ancient Rome grew from a small town on Italy’s Tiber River into an empire. That took years. Hundreds of years. It didn’t happen overnight. So, you got to be easy on yourself. Cultivating resilience isn’t going to happen overnight. It takes months or even years for you to achieve this. The key here is to keep building on it. To keep focusing on what you can achieve and go after it. You got this.

For me, it took constantly having to reinforce it. Sure, that was annoying, but now it’s worth it. There are a lot of reasons for cultivating resilience. One of the most vital ones is you don’t give up as easily. You keep going after your dreams. That is so important. Because when you don’t give up, there’s a reward at the end of the rainbow. Something you always envisioned, but never believed it was possible to achieve. There’s so much worth and joy in going after your dreams. You can also inspire so many people with your story.

Busting Making Money Online Myths

Busting Making Money Online Myths

Busting Making Money Online Myths

They are numerous making money online myths, the four below are the most common and popular.

Here I am again. Your personal myth buster. Haven’t done a segment like this in a while. So, I thought I would dust my favorite yellow myth busting jacket. Take it out of the closet and tantalize your interest. So this year I wanted to bust making money online myths. Here’s the thing about making money. It isn’t easy and there is so much noise out there. No white noise. No, this is the kind of noise that gives you a migraine because of misinformation or just too much information.

The internet has been around since the 90’s. That’s a long time. Making money online started as early as the late 90’s. Strange right, but if you were old enough back, then you must remember subscriptions and even paying for email newsletters. Back then, though, it was in its infancy. Too young to make a dent or splash in the papers. Not enough people were interested.

Making money online became popular after 2008. When the world was hit with a tsunami of bad news. You remember the year? People lost their jobs. Inflation was at an all-time high. Well before the pandemic. College grads were now wondering what they’d do with their life. High school seniors weren’t optimistic about their future. It just wasn’t the best year. But that is when entrepreneurship became popular and more people were trying to find out how to make money online. So, this isn’t a new wave. Every year, this industry grows. And because of that, so do the tails start wagging even more. They are a lot of myths out there. So, I thought I would take the time to bust making money online myths.

Myth 1# People don’t make money online

I have an aunt who I love dearly. When she visited my family seven years ago before, I really made headway in making money online. She told me a story about how a friend of hers’ lost money online. She then told me, ” people don’t make money online.” Now, I had done my research and knew that they are dozens of ways to make money online. I couldn’t blame her. They are many people who think that.

So here’s the first making money online myth that I want to bust. People make money online. You know that adage; they are many ways to skin a cat. What they don’t tell you is that they are right and wrong ways to do it. They are people who never make money online. That’s because they aren’t doing it the right way. Be smart when you want to make money online. That requires foresight and something many of us are terrible at. You got it. Patience. Be patient. You know squirrels spend a lot of their time finding the right nuts to bury. They will forage until they find the right nuts. Many of us aren’t patient. We give up way too early and because of that, we cannot achieve what we want.

If you want to make money, then you need to practice patience. Not the easiest thing to do, but it is the most rewarding thing you can do. Think of what you want to achieve and then focus on that. Let that be the reason behind your purpose.

Myth 2# You need lots of money to make money online

They are dozens of ways to make money online. Some require more money than others. Others you don’t need as much. There’s a twofold way to bust making money online myth two. The first fold is that you can start simple and progress from there. What skills do you have? Maybe you are great at writing or even good at being on camera.

Starting a blog or YouTube channel requires the least amount of money. In 2018, when I started my blog. I didn’t have any money. There was zero dollars in my bank account. My big brother sent me some money. I put it in a bank account. It was only one hundred dollars, and I started my blog with that. I paid for a month using Hostgator and I went from there. Sometimes you don’t need the full picture. Often you just need a smaller one. Use what you have instead of focusing on what you don’t. Even if you have no money, you can borrow or you can make money. I will share that with you later.

You can even start with a YouTube channel. Just use your phone and a lavalier mic that you can get for $20. That’s all you need. So myth two has been busted. If you still have doubts, think about how massive the internet is. It is literally it’s own country. A global opportunity that awaits you to take a chance and decide that you can do it.

Myth 3# You need to be a genius

Maybe you aren’t an intellectual. Few people are. You might not create the next big thing, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make money online. I was once told to find what people want and give them that. That is the secret to making money online. So, it isn’t novel. So what? Give people what they want. That’s how people make money. Follow the trends and figure out what is missing. See what people are doing and do that. You don’t need to be brainy to make money online.

That is one of the biggest making money online myths out there. Change your perspective. Realize that you can be an average Jane or Joe and still make money. In fact, the more relatable you are, the better. Those are the people we connect with. Not the top gurus. Sure they make money. Being famous has its advantages. Those of us who were slow to jump on the ride need relatability to connect with people. They are people who once were relatable who no longer are because they forgot what made people connect with them.

The best way to make money is by looking at your skill set. We all have skills. No single person on the planet doesn’t have that one thing they excel at. And I’m sure they are people who would pay good money to learn that. Unless your skill is so niche and out there that people wouldn’t be interested in. That’s rare though. People these days can make money from literally anything. So, you are in good company. Myth three has been busted. Now onto the last one.

Myth 4# Making money online is a scam

For every con artist, there is a legit salesperson. Did you ever read Confessions of a Door to Door sales agent? It was a brilliant read. It tells the story of a struggling salesperson. He struggled to sell his products for several reasons. Many thought he was a scammer. The second reason is he was selling things no one wanted. Perhaps he was selling to the wrong demographic. And he didn’t know how to market his products.

There will always be people who question everything online. “Did so and so really make money from doing that?” I remember reading how webnovel platforms were scammers because of how they’d approach authors instead of the other way around. Now, self-publishing is still better because you make more money but webnovelists do make money.

A webnovel is simply when an author serializes his content or novel and publishes it on a platform. Think Charles Dickens. Now, don’t get me wrong, they are online scams. You just have to be picky with what you spend your time on. The way I look at is like this. The marketplace was niche. So con artists back in the day would con those that were in a particular city or district. Now, the marketplace is global. They are more options out there to scam people. But not everything is a scam. Therefore, you need to take your time understanding how to make money online.

The number one reason people get scammed is that they aren’t knowledgeable. That’s why I created this blog post series. By the end you will know how to bust making money online myths. You will also know how to make money online without losing sleep and losing hair.

Are You Feeling Left Behind? Forge Your Own Path

Are You Feeling Left Behind? Forge Your Own Path

Are you feeling left behind. forge your own path.

Most people feel left behind. Here’s a simple solution how to deal with it.

No one knew social media would be seen as a vehicle to compare ourselves with other people. That has happened. Many of us feel left behind. We feel as though we aren’t achieving the success we always dreamed about. Social media often shows the best the world offers. Children and teenagers excelling at a rapid rate that many of us can’t dream of.

This is a problem for our self-esteem and general sense of worth. How can we compete with teenagers making their first million? Yet we’re struggling to even figure life out. We beat ourselves for not getting it sooner. Studies show that many people feel left behind in life. Most people want to achieve something grand, but don’t know how to do that. They see themselves as falling behind in life. Here is something staggering. In 2011, it was stated that 200 million Americans wanted to publish books. Yet, in 2022, only 0,03% of the population is a writer.

Here is another interesting fact. In 2018, it was stated that three out of five people want to start their own business. To be exact, 62% dreams of starting their own business. That is a staggering number. They are many people who feel left behind in life. More than you know. They are a lot of reasons people don’t go after their dreams. A lot of reasons they give up the goose. These facts show they are so many people with lofty dreams. Very few achieve them. That is why they call it the 1%. Most people give up way too easily.

Below I will point out how you can start going after your dreams even if you feel left behind in life. Before I go on. I need you to know something. We all have a choice. Either we let fear in or we face it. We can’t do both.

Comparison getting you down

Most people compare themselves to the next person. So and so is doing this. Why can’t I? So and so bought a new car. Moved into a new apartment, building complex, city or country. “Did you see what this person is doing on social media?” Social media has become a viewing room. Something to entertain us and distract us from going after our dreams. It makes us insecure. As we look at well-crafted social media feeds or even glance at people’s profile.

Here’s the thing: comparing yourself will make you feel left behind. It will make you question your decisions. Consider them and wonder why you aren’t doing X and X. Yet, you’re still alive who says you can’t. It’s almost as if we think we need to achieve our dreams at a certain age or timeline. If I don’t achieve this at this age, I’m a failure. Here’s the thing: the people who achieved those things earlier had a different childhood from you.

Their experiences made them who they are. Just like your experiences made you who you are. Why do senior citizens choose to learn an instrument? Many of them wake up with regret and wonder where the time went. I admire senior citizens who do that. Because it isn’t easy to learn anything new. Even when you’re young. Yet. Few people do. Few people choose to learn something that will build them up. That’s the thing. You decide who you want to be.

You decide where you want to go. The choice is yours. Don’t let comparison put you in a box. Don’t allow it to trap you and stop you from going after what you want.

You give too much power to fear

Many of us give fear way too much power. We see it as this force that can cause us to stop in our tracks. That is why many people feel left behind in life. They give fear too much power. When was the last time you did something you were terrified about? I’m terrified of heights, but I have done lots of things that make people wonder if I actually am.

Why do I do that? Simple. Because I don’t want to give fear too much power. If I do that, then fear will control my life and decisions. I don’t want to ever be in a position where I feel as if fear has too much power over me. I can’t let that happen. You shouldn’t as well. I once heard someone say fear are fake events appearing real. And that is true. When you’re afraid of something, often we exaggerate. Here’s an example. I was in an elevator once. The ones that have windows. I imagined it crashing to the ground. Will that ever happen? Unlikely. Unless I’m in a movie. Movies aren’t real. What happens in movies won’t happen in real life? Certain instances they happen. Like getting eaten by a shark. But you’ll only encounter this if you swim where sharks are.

Most of these things are situational. Many people allow fear to sink in. That is why they feel left behind. The best way to avoid this is to not give too much power to fear.

Social expectations

Society loves to give expectations. As if that is a parameter of success. Society will say you need to have done this at this age or achieved this in this time frame. Rules should be broken. The reason you’re feeling left behind is that you’re using society to determine what your life should be like. When I was in my early twenties, I felt like this a lot. I wanted to achieve so many things. Get my life going. But the thing is, I did not know how to do it. I was concerned with how people saw me. I didn’t work on how I saw myself.

That is the problem. We spend too much time wondering how people see us. Thinking that if I do X, then they’ll see me in a better light. Who cares what a stranger across the world thinks of you? Who cares what your aunt Mildred thinks about your singleness? The reason I say this is that there has to be a point where you care and defining yourself based world says about you. You can’t control what people think. That is just a fact. What you can do is think about who you want to be and where you want to go.

That should matter more than people’s opinions. People will always have opinions. Whether or not it’s true. You can’t let people’s opinions make you feel left behind in life. Not everyone is the same. Therefore, your journey won’t be the same.

Success isn’t linear

Success isn’t linear. It’s not a step-by-step system. Even if you think it’s a staircase. That’s often not the case. This is the number one reason you feel left behind. You see success in a straight line. It isn’t. They are ups and downs in life. You will achieve something great than the next thing you know is you hit a slump or a land mill. Why? Because that is how life is like. If life was linear, it would be boring. You wouldn’t enjoy it as much as you enjoy it now.

You wouldn’t experience the fullness that life offers. We need to understand life isn’t meant to be easy. It isn’t meant to be simple. As hard as that is, this is how we can achieve great things in life. We need to realize feeling left behind is normal, but it doesn’t determine where we go next. Whatever milestone you make, that is a step in the right direction. If you come across obstacles, that’s alright. That strengthens you. It builds you up. Pushes you out of your comfort zone. Creates opportunities that you never knew were even there.

Forge your own path

I used to think success was linear, so I’d follow the gurus’ advice. I’d think that this is how I’ll be successful. Few of us can follow someone successfully. Some of us don’t have that opportunity. We just don’t. We feel left behind because we believe we should follow someone’s path to become successful. That isn’t true. There has to be a point where we forge our own path.

This can look different depending on who you are. For example, who says you need to go back to university? Many people want to make more money. Several articles suggest going back to university to achieve this. This is just the opinion of a few people. That doesn’t mean if you choose to go down a different path, you won’t achieve anything. No. You can start a business. Create several income streams. Sell your mother’s cookies to your next-door neighbors. Home sit pets. The list goes on. They are so many things you can do.

We remain in a box when we don’t see the opportunities waiting for us. There’s so much you can do. You just have to go outside and see what you can achieve. Forge your own path. This is how you won’t feel left behind. Don’t look at other peoples’ success as the only way you can become successful. You just need to push yourself and you will find so many opportunities. Unbelievable opportunities you never thought you would ever achieve. It will takes time. But if you don’t give up. You would be shocked at all things you can achieve.
